About EcoAnalytix
EcoAnalytix is PerkinElmer's collaborative problem-solving business that creates application-based solutions for supporting local, regional, and global initiatives. It is through these focused solutions that PerkinElmer is contributing to protect and improve the world we live in.
Why EcoAnalytix
With over 60 years of experience in the analytical sciences business, PerkinElmer knows that the right training, methods, applications, reporting and support are as integral to getting answers as the instrumentation. That's why we've developed this novel approach to meet the challenges that today's labs are facing -- that approach is called EcoAnalytix TM.
The analytical concerns inherent in the following scenarios impact the safety of our environment, food supply, energy sources and new materials. Fortunately we offer a range of screening and sophisticated technologies that can address these concerns.
Biofuels Development:
The new great debate is food vs. fuel. Researchers are exploring new avenues to find a new biofuel feedstock that saves energy while maintaining engine performance. The world's agriculture and forestry systems will be challenged to produce, in a sustainable manner, the billion tons of feedstock to achieve this goal. In the heartland of America is it corn for feed or fuel. In South America its sugarcane for fuel. Or is the next "green" thing algae for fuel?
Environmental:
It wasn't that long ago that Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans by swamping the city in water yet, clean water is still one of New Orleans biggest challenges today. Imagine this: Desalinated water is destined for the drinking water supply; public health is compromised.
Food Quality, Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Everyone was seriously concerned about pet food shipments from overseas that were tainted with cancer-causing melamine; recalls of spinach and beef tainted with e-coli - putting in question the safety of the food we eat.
Community Outreach
PerkinElmer's EcoAnalytix program encourages local and global advocacy and partnerships for ecosystemic excellence on all levels while helping business ecosystems within industry thrive. By focusing on ultra-analytical industries - such as the biofuels and sustainable energy, environmental and food safety and quality industries, EcoAnalytix addresses the many ecosystems that make up the largest ecosystem of all: our world.
PerkinElmer is working with and through customers, local governments and NGOs and the public to generate awareness of topics of importance to global health and well-being to people across the world.
In support for safeguarding our water resources, we've formed our first water partnership with the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the International Water Association (IWA)'s World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD). WWMD is an international outreach program that's building global public awareness of and involvement in protecting precious water resources. Doing so by engaging community members to perform basic monitoring tests of local rivers, streams, estuaries and other bodies of water. Through our partnership, PerkinElmer is collaborating with WEF and its other sponsors and partners to generate awareness of the importance of clean water around the globe.
We're proactively seeking new community outreach partnerships with environmental, food safety and quality, sustainable energy and biofuels organizations that have a complementary mission to protect and improve our world.
PerkinElmer's Commitment to Environmental Responsibility
As a corporate citizen PerkinElmer is dedicated to ensuring that our facilities and employees operate in a manner that's environmentally conscious and that will contribute to a better world.
Through internally established programs, our facilities are taking an active role establishing programs to minimize our carbon footprint and impact on the environment. Whether in the laboratory, manufacturing or production facilities or other operations, we're designing safe products and processes that prevent pollution, conserve resources and reduce waste. Employee involvement is integral part to our continuous improvement of environmental safety and health programs.
Our policy worldwide is to operate in a manner which protects the environment and the safety and health of employees and the public. We actively examine and seek out options for reducing our ecological footprint caused by the consumption and eventual disposal of our instruments. We also integrate environmental safety and health considerations into business planning while seeking conformance with recognized management standards.
PerkinElmer continues to establish processes that comply with all applicable laws and regulations and communicating with employees, customers and other interested parties about significant hazards of its products and operations.
