This webcast describes the benefits of headspace-GC technology for the analysis of organic volatile impurities (OVIs) in pharmaceuticals.

Many pharmaceutical products must be analyzed for OVIs at different stages of their development (e.g., raw materials, intermediate products and final product). One method of choice for OVI analysis is U.S. Pharmacopeia method, USP<467> Method IV.

An expert in pharmaceutical OVI testing provides details and suggestions on how to use headspace sample-handling technology to comply with U.S. Pharmacopeia method, USP Method IV. In addition to method compliance, this technology offers significant advantages. Accuracy and precision are demonstrated using a PerkinElmer® TurboMatrix™ Headspace Sampler coupled with a Clarus® GC.

In addition to the standard headspace method, other method considerations of using techniques such as the new headspace-trap technology for this industry are discussed. The headspace-trap technology provides advantages such as up to 100x better sensitivity, dry-purge technology and use of an onboard adsorbent trap to collect and focus the ‘whole’ headspace vapor.
