DMA 8000 Provides a Powerful Solution for Both Routine Analysis and Advanced Research

CHICAGO, IL -- February 26, 2007 -- PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE: PKI), a global leader in Health Sciences and Photonics, showcased its new Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA) at PITTCON® 2007, Booth 843.  The DMA 8000 is the cornerstone of the next generation of PerkinElmer thermal analysis instrumentation and was part of the acquisition of specific DMA technologies from UK-based Triton Technology Ltd. in December 2006.  Scientists in the polymers, composites, pharmaceuticals and food industries can utilize this powerful technology for a wide range of diverse applications ranging from simple quality control to advanced research.

“PerkinElmer has a long tradition of offering high-quality products and services to all of its customers,” said Mike DiVito, Thermal Analysis business unit manager, PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences.  “We recognize that ease-of-use, flexibility and maximum uptime are critical to our customers.  The DMA 8000 delivers these key attributes and exemplifies PerkinElmer’s continuing commitment to enhance our thermal offerings.”

The DMA 8000 includes a number of features that will enable scientists to analyze samples more easily, quickly and with greater uptime than other offerings on the market. For unparalleled flexibility, the DMA 8000 has a rotating analysis head, which can be oriented through a full 180 degrees for ease of sample mounting and changing. Its lightweight analytical train is designed for high stiffness, yielding exceptional performance.  The instrumentation has the ability to cool rapidly with minimal liquid nitrogen consumption.  The DMA 8000 also offers precise humidity and temperature control as a sample’s properties are studied, along with an integrated fluid bath for immersion of a sample during testing.
