Neuropeptide S (human), Ser-Phe-Arg-Asn-Gly-Val-Gly-Thr-Gly-Met-Lys-Lys-Thr-Ser-Phe-Gln-Arg-Ala-Lys-Ser-OH, is a newly identified endogenous peptide ligand for its newly deorphanized G-protein coupled cognate receptor. Neuropeptide S is a novel neuropeptide that potently modulates arousal and could also regulate anxiety-related behavior. Neuropeptide S (human), [¹²⁵I-Tyr¹⁰]- is an analog with a substitution of ¹²⁵I-Tyr¹⁰ for Met at position 10. The Neuropeptide S receptor has been identified as a candidate target [replace “gene”] for asthma and termed “G-protein coupled receptor for asthma susceptibility” (GPRA).
