A: Yes, it is replaced by part number N017-1386
Q: Should I leave my instrument on all the time?
A: All FT-IR instruments were designed to be left on all the time. The instrument will remain more stable and have less problems than when they are turned off. The life of the laser and the source will not be prolonged by shutting the instrument off, in fact, it may contribute to a shorter life. If the instrument is off for a period of longer than two weeks, it is suggested to change the desiccant and repurge.
Q: How long is my Traceable Reference Material good?
A: The period of certification is 3 years from the date of calibration which is printed on the TRM box label.For mid infrared (MIR) this is in line with the period of certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for Standard Reference Material (SRM) 1921.The near infrared (NIR) TRM is traceable to the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in the UK. This has also been assigned a period of certification of 3 years from the date of calibration printed on the TRM box label.
Q: What should the wavenumber tolerance be when running my polystyrene sample?
A: The laser wavenumber cannot be adjusted on a 1600 or a 1700 instrument as it can for a Paragon 1000 or a Spectrum 2000, therefore a variation of ±0.5 cm-1 may be unsuitable for these types of instruments. A suitable variation may need to be set to ±1/2 the resolution.If you scan at 4 cm-1 resolution, then the tolerance should be +/- 2 cm-1.
