Sulfur/Trace Sulfur Analyzers

The ability to detect low-level amounts (parts per billion) of sulfur in many sample types is of vital importance to those in the food and beverage industry as well as to those where trace level of sulfur impurities in samples may result in substandard products. Typical examples of such analyses include:

  • Liquid-phase petrochemicals, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha and gasoline
  • Quality control of bulk gases such as nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide
  • Quality control in ethylene and propylene monomer used as raw materials for polymer fabrication
  • Fermentation of beer
  • Carbonated beverage production

PerkinElmer's family of Arnel Trace Sulfur Analyzers are designed to analyze gas or liquid samples, plus address on-line sampling, calibration and plant operation. In addition to the reliable and robust Flame Photometric Detector (FPD) and the Sulfur Chemiluminescence Detector (SCD) which are commonly utilized for trace sulfur compound analysis in liquid and pressurized liquid sample matrices, the Amperometric Sulfur Detector (ASD) is also utilized for trace sulfur compound analysis in gaseous sample matrices. Using the ASD, sulfur detection in the range of 0.01 to 10.0 ppm can be achieved and provides an equimolar response to sulfur compounds.

  • Availability of Programmable Pneumatic Control (PPC) for more precise and automated gas flow
  • Factory upgradeable for future expansion or system configuration changes
  • Operation in automated batch plus on-line sampling modes
